COMPUTING QUALIFICATIONS

These computing qualifications cover a broad range of computing specialisms and were developed to provide a foundation of skills and knowledge for those working in a variety of roles such as Programming, Information Systems Management, Web Development, Software Engineering and more.

ATHE encourages centres to combine the study of ATHE qualifications with a work placement relevant to the unit the learners are studying. All assignments must still be assessed in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Delivering ATHE Qualifications Handbook.

Level 4 Diploma in Computing

The ATHE Level 4 Diploma in Computing is a 120 credit size qualification. It provides the core knowledge, understanding and skills to support learners planning to further their studies in computing. It is equivalent to the first year of a degree programme in Computing.

Who this qualification is for?

Learners who are seeking to progress to higher education to take a Bachelor's degree course in computing. Learners could also progress directly to employment.

What does the qualification progress to?

Learners who complete this qualification can progress to the ATHE Level 5 Diploma in Computing which provides entry to the third year of a Bachelor's Degree at a university such as one of our university partners, Southampton Solent University. This qualification is eligible for Advanced Learner Loans through the Skills Funding Agency in the 2016-2017 session.

What does the qualification progress to?

Learners who complete this qualification can progression onto a variety of Bachelor's Degree Top-Up Programmes at a higher education institution including those where we have progression agreements. For more information, please visit our progression routes page
