Course information

To have the creative and technical skills and an advanced knowledge, of the interacting technical factors and methodologies that can be used to create photo-realistic 3D animation, and the other key areas of 3D asset creation includingmodelling, texturing, lighting, FX and rendering.

Who is this course for?

Visual effects artists or students interested in becoming a VFX supervisor on set. Film students and graduates interested in the visual effects process. Aspiring or new filmmakers working on their own visual effects film.

Level 7

Eligibility criteria

Apprentices without level 2 English and math's will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship's English and math's minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.

An apprentice must meet the gateway requirements. For this apprenticeship they are:

  • The employer must be content that the apprentice is working at or above the occupational standard
  • Apprentices must have achieved English and mathematics Level 2
  • The apprentice has collated a portfolio of evidence to underpin the professional discussion
  • The employer agrees the report title, subject and scope of the post show review report with the EPAO

As a minimum, apprentices should:

  • Participate in and complete on-programme training to meet the KSBs as outlined in the occupational standard for a minimum of 12 months
  • Undertake 20% off-the-job training as arranged by the employer and training provider
  • Understand the purpose and importance of EPA
  • Undertake the EPA including meeting all gateway requirements
